About the project

BRAND IDENTITY, ART DIRECTION, STRATEGY

Nádražka was created as a modern evening hospitality concept for the newly developed Smíchov Station area in Prague. Positioned within Smíchovská tržnice, the project sits alongside cafés, bistros, florists or barbershop — forming a new urban layer at the entrance to Smíchov City. The ambition was to design a place that naturally completes this ecosystem, bringing people together after work, before travel or simply as part of everyday city life.

Strategy

Smíchov Station is not just a transit point but a living urban hub — a place of movement, pause and encounter. Nádražka is positioned as a natural stop within this flow. The concept bridges two worlds. The traditional Czech pub and a modern, design-conscious hospitality space. It is accessible, familiar and social but also contemporary and refined. The target groups reflect the rhythm of the location itself. Local residents looking for a consistent evening spot. Afterwork guests searching for a place to unwind. Travelers who need a quick but quality stop before or after a journey. And a younger, urban audience open to craft beer, modern food and new interpretations of Czech cuisine. The opening hours from 15:00 to 23:00 define its role clearly as an evening destination. This decision also complements the daytime operations of surrounding cafés and bistros within Smíchovská tržnice, creating a full-day hospitality ecosystem where each concept plays its role without overlap.

Food & Beverage

The gastronomic approach is built on three pillars: roots and innovation, localness and hospitality.

At its core, Nádražka works with Czech culinary heritage and pub culture. Traditional dishes are transformed into a lighter, more playful format designed for sharing. Dishes like vejmrda, kapří hranolky, vinná klobása burger, knedlík ve vajíčku and pickles are reinterpreted to preserve their identity while making them accessible in a modern dining context. The beverage program is built around Czech craft breweries, Moravian and Czech wines, house-made spirits and liqueurs developed with local distilleries and a selection of minimalistic cocktails such as Chocolate Malt Highball or Citra Hops Gin Tonic.

Hospitality remains at the center of everything. The Czech pub has always been a place of gathering, conversation and shared moments. Nádražka continues this tradition through shared plates, informal service and a relaxed atmosphere.

Brand Identity

The logo combines a wordmark with a symbol representing railway tracks, stylised as how traditionally the beers are counted with tally marks. The symbol shows 5 drank beers as a reference to city district Praha 5, Smíchov.

The colour palette is built on a harmony of pink, blue and white. Each colour carries a specific role within the system. Pink introduces warmth, modernity and playfulness. It connects naturally to hospitality and food culture while softening the industrial context of the railway environment. Blue references tradition and heritage. It provides depth, stability and trust. White creates clarity and space, allowing the system to remain open and readable within a busy urban context. Together, these colours create a distinctive and recognisable visual language that sets Nádražka apart from traditional Czech pubs.

The communication style reflects the tone of Czech pub culture, using smart, confident humour with a subtle satirical edge. The brand does not take itself too seriously and expects the same from its guests. The result is a voice that feels approachable, slightly cheeky but always friendly and inclusive.
